This is a screen-capture video from a TuneLing for "Dandelion" from the album "Dandelion", by Ella Langley.

Notes:

This song is the title track, and an early (as of this writing) release from Ella's upcoming new album (due in spring 2026), and a fine one it is.

We'll deploy the capo on both guitar and ukulele for this one, but our discussion below will refer to chords by their shape names, ignoring the capo for the moment. So the pattern starts on Am7 (remember, we're ignoring the capo!), and goes to D, then G, then Em. In many places, including the intro, we'll add passing chord between the G and the Em - and that chord will be a D/F# ("D over F-sharp") on the guitar, and a plain D on the ukulele.

Guitar players, be sure to use your THUMB to fret the lowest note of the D/F# shape, and it can also serve to mute the adjacent 5th string (which is important!).

That simple pattern is the basis for the whole song, but it never gets boring or repetitive-sounding because there are a few little touches thrown in, that serve to keep things interesting. The most interesting of those touches is the use of a MAJOR chord where you expect to hear a MINOR one. This happens in bars 25 and 47 - that change from Em to plain E sounds dramatically uplifting - but that's all it is - a switch from minor to major, a difference of one note.

A few more points, in no particular order:

On the ukulele, the Am7 shape really is ALL OPEN STRINGS. That's not a mistake, and your left hand really does get a short vacation every time that chord happens.

There are rests (stops) in bars 19 and 50.

Bar 43 has only two beats in it, instead of four. It serves just to stretch out the previous bar's chord, for dramatic effect.

The use of sound effects at both the beginning and end of the song is a nice touch, but it does make the metronome count-off a little tougher to hear at the beginning. But it's there, so listen carefully for the clicks!

Finally, our chord names for this video show the chord SHAPE name first, then the true (adjusted for capo) chord's ROOT NOTE ONLY, in parentheses. So when you see "Am7 (C#)", for example, that means the true chord is a C#m7, not a plain C#.
