Review of the Arlo Audio Doorbell, Chime and Pro 2 camera, a complete smart home security setup for 2019. We run through the setup and test out the Arlo system over a few days, on both Android and iOS, to see if this is a Nest/Ring alternative.

The Doorbell has motion detection and can send notifications to your smartphone when someone is detected, as well as calling your mobile when someone pushes the bell. If you have the Chime plugged in then you will also get a proper traditional ding dong.

Another optional accessory to create a full smart home security setup is a camera, and I tested the Arlo Pro 2 cam for this review. When you receive a notification you can then get a video feed of whoever is stood at your door, to help decide whether to bother opening up. Plus, the doorbell supports two-way communication if you want to tell them to do one.

If you don't already own any Arlo kit, then buying all of these elements separately can be costly. It's definitely a more expensive security/door system than Nest or Ring, unless you already own a camera - or go without.
